Lacquerware, as vessels that contain souls, adorns gods and Buddhas and has been deeply connected to the spiritual formation of the Japanese people. Wajimaya Zennin was founded in the Bunka era (1813) of the Edo period, and for over 200 years since then, our artisans have pursued the improvement of their techniques and sensibilities under the family motto of "sublime character." Furthermore, since 1997, we have been working to create Japan's largest lacquer forest in Joboji, Iwate Prefecture. The finest vessels are born through a relay of work by master craftsmen and master artisans with intricate skills. Choose from exquisite pieces crafted by master craftsmen, perfect for storing the ashes or keepsakes of loved ones.

There are two variations: the "Roiro Finish Hosohana Maki-e Iri" with its exquisite luster, featuring delicate and magnificent Hosohana maki-e (lacquerware) designs handcrafted by master artisans, and the "Matte Finish" with its more subdued finish. Each piece bears the stamp of Wajimaya Zennin, a company with a 200-year history.
