Flowers of tradition and beauty woven together by Suruga Maki-e
Blooming in your heart,
A masterpiece that exudes glamorous art.
The mini urn "Hana Maki-e" is a stunning piece by a female Suruga maki-e artist, combining traditional techniques with the artist's unique aesthetic. The beautiful details and colors of the flowers painted on the lacquer are striking and delicate. It also features a threaded design, so there's no need to worry about spillage. It can also be used as a mini urn to hold small keepsakes such as jewelry. We are proud that the beautiful, intricately painted flowers bloom beautifully, while the good old Japanese traditions are still present in this modern design.

Made in Takaoka
Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, a "town of casting" overlooking the Tateyama mountain range
Casting techniques, including copperware, have been deeply rooted in the area for a long time, and traditional techniques are still being passed down today. Takaoka City, the second largest city in Toyama Prefecture, is known as a town of metalwork with a history of over 400 years as a major producer of copperware and other castings. It is said that over 90% of the copperware in the country is made in Takaoka. The statue of Ninomiya Kinjiro, which is often seen in elementary schools, and the bell that rings at New Year's Eve, are actually made from Takaoka copperware.
The casting temperature for brass is 1,100°C.
Each piece is poured by hand into a sand mold. The rising smoke is not steam or water vapor, but is produced by the burning of zinc, which has a lower boiling point than copper.
The brass is melted in a gas furnace for about two hours. All work is dangerous and must be done carefully.
The craftsman's hands and eyes give it a smooth finish.
The finish is beautiful.
The smooth brass finish brings out the beautiful finish of the paint.
This traditional technique utilizes the corrosive properties of copper and sulfur to control chemicals and flames to produce vibrant colors. Orii creates limitless colors and magically floating patterns. This technique, which has attracted attention both domestically and internationally, produces one-of-a-kind colors.
